Senate Amnesty Proposal Full of Flaws

Posted on Tuesday 30 June 2009

President Obama and Congressional Democrat Leaders are circling their wagons to push through an amnesty plan for illegal immigrants.  Two experts at the Heritage Foundation reviewed the Senate proposed legislation and discovered a litany of serious problems.  According to Kris Kobach and Matthew Spalding, “This seriously flawed proposal would undermine the rule of law by granting massive benefits to those who have willfully violated U.S. laws, while denying those benefits to those who have played by the rules and sometimes even to U.S. citizens.”

Here’s the summary of issues identified by Kobach and Spalding that will undermine the rule of law:

1.    A Massive Amnesty
2.    Permanent “Temporary” Visa
3.    Hobbled Background Checks
4.    Amnesty for Absconders
5.    Reverse Justice
6.    Enforcement of Amnesty, Not Laws
7.    Amnesty for Gang Members
8.    Tuition Subsidy for Illegals
9.    Taxpayer Funded Lawyers for Illegal Aliens
10.    Amnesty before Enforcement Triggers
