On energy, Paris Hilton makes more sense than Ken Salazar

( Congress and Energy and Policy )

Submitted by Mark Hillman…
Colorado’s junior U.S. Senator Ken “Silly Sally” Salazar added another layer of nonsense to his no-energy policy recently when he suggested releasing 70 million barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
To be fair — and proving once again that “even a stopped clock is right twice a day” — there [...]

A Legacy of Change

( Congress and Energy and Politics )

Submitted by Steven M. Bimm…
In the coming weeks we will be hearing a lot from the left side of the aisle about “Change.” It has been the dominant theme of not only the Obama campaign, but also of the Democrat party as a whole.
Back during the 2006 election cycle, when the Democrats took control of [...]

What was the Democrat Congress voting on?

This doesn’t paint a pretty picture…

Salazar and Democrats won’t drill offshore even at $10 a gallon

( Colorado and Congress and Energy and Politics )

That is not a misprint!  Senator Mitch McConnell offered a series of amendments to expand drilling offshore.  Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar repeatedly said “I object!”  Watch this video of Senate floor proceedings from July 31.
Salazar objected to McConnell’s amendments even if offshore drilling was withheld until gas reached $4.50 per gallon, or $5.00, or $7.50, [...]

Cowboy Wisdom from a Wyoming Democrat - A Founder of Americans for American Energy

( Energy and Policy )

We hope that there are Democrats in places other than Wyoming who understand the tragic public policy failures of the past that have led to the energy panic that has gripped the nation.  However, at least in the Cowboy state sanity still prevails.
We’re referring to the efforts of Wyoming State Senator Bill Vasey, a Democrat [...]

In Case You Missed It: Sen. Wayne Allard on oil shale

Skewed logic over oil shell
By Sen. Wayne Allard (CO)
As originally pulblished in the Denver Post on July 24, 2008.
Colorado is different. Our Rocky Mountain oysters aren’t seafood, our tourism industry heats up when temperatures cool down and our oil reserves aren’t like Texas’ liquid “black gold.” Ours are the shale rocks of Western Colorado.
Unfortunately, one [...]

This is “leadership”?

( Energy and In the Media and Policy )

With American’s paying over $4.00 a gallon for gas – and still increasing – public pressure is increasing on Congress to take action to increase domestic production of oil and gas.  It only seems obvious that increasing the supply of a commodity in great demand would help to reduce the global pressure for increasing prices.

That [...]

In case you missed it: Let’s Keep the Door Open on Oil Shale

( Energy and Policy )

In a thoughtful guest editorial in the Rocky Mountain News, Peggy Rector makes the case for moving forward with the process of potentially tapping the estimated trillion barrel oil reserve in northwestern Colorado. Rector is from Rangley, the small town in the heart of the impacted region and serves as chair of the Environmentally Conscious [...]

Tax them until they behave

As if Americans weren’t already reeling enough from rising gas prices, The New York Times  thinks adding additional taxes to the cost of your next fill up would be a good idea.
With gas prices shooting up, sales of SUVs and pick-up trucks have fallen significantly – something the Times takes great satisfaction in – the [...]

Another Broken Pelosi Promise

( Congress and Energy )

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) reminded his colleagues recently of another of the 2006 campaign season promises made about two years ago by the soon to be elected Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
“Elect us and we will produce a common-sense plan to help bring down the price of gasoline at the pump.”
According to Senator [...]
