There was considerable international media coverage when Pope Benedict XVI baptized Magdi Allam, a prominent Italian Muslim, during Easter Week services at the Vatican. The symbolism and significance of such a high profile Muslim’s conversion was not lost on anyone.Â
Allam, however, is hardly the first Muslim to embrace Christianity. Joel Rossenberg, founder of the Joshua Fund, has documented that it is a trend sweeping across Islamic nations. Christians by the tens of thousands exist from Afghanistan to Egypt – and, yes, even in Iraq and Iran. His explanation is both fascinating and timely. As the Christian world marks another Easter Season, there is abundant reason to celebrate the Good News.
