VFW to House Democrats: “Asinine”

Posted on Monday 25 February 2008

“Adopt the Senate version of the Protect America Act to safeguard Americans” - VFW statement, February 21, 2008

The Veterans of Foreign Wars called Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats’ unwillingness to pass the Protect America Act “asinine.” Because Pelosi blocked the Senate bill to come to the floor for a vote, the PPA expired at midnight, February 16.

VFW National Commander George Lisicki said, “Americans are protected from illegal search and seizures by the Fourth Amendment, but critical legislation is now being delayed because some would extend these same constitutional protections to those who want to harm America.”

“There are people who kill without conscience, who represent no country, and who have no agenda other than the total destruction of our country,” said Lisicki. “These terrorists have no privacy rights, as it relates to the aiding and abetting of future attacks, and the thought of giving them the right to sue their phone company for a privacy violation is asinine.”

As a result of the Democrat House Leadership’s failure to act, Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell said America is in “Increased danger” from terrorist attacks, and “it will increase more and more as time goes on.”

Jay Rockefeller, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence – a Democrat – speaking on the Senate floor pleaded, “People have to understand around here that the quality of intelligence is going to be degraded.  It’s going to be degraded.  It’s already going to be degraded!”

Thus far, that has had zero effect on the House Democrats who are now on recess while American’s exposure to attack grows.
