National Review endorses Mitt Romney

Posted on Tuesday 11 December 2007

Arguably the standard for political conservative journalism, National Review, has endorsed Gov. Mitt Romney for President. Calling Romney “the most conservative viable candidate,” NR analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of each of the main contenders (Guiliani, McCain, Thompson, Huckabee) and made a very strong case for Romney being the most complete package of experienced and principled leadership. As regular readers of A Line of Sight know, Romney also has earned our endorsement, and we commend his candidacy to all voters – Republican or otherwise.

“Unlike some other candidates in the race, Romney is a full-spectrum conservative: a supporter of free-market economics and limited government, moral causes such as the right to life and the preservation of marriage, and a foreign policy based on the national interest.”
– National Review Board of Editors

While opponents continue to challenge Romney’s credentials, he now notably has the endorsements of both National Review and conservative icon Paul Weyrich, Chairman-CEO of The Free Congress Research and Education Foundation.
